Saving a Slice of Paradise: The West Klosterman Preserve Effort

Presented by Bruce Turley, Thursday, April 25, 2024 at 3:00 pm at the Highland Lakes Clubhouse Great Room.

Join us for a presentation by Bruce Turley, former owner of Wilcox Nursery, landscaping guy extraordinaire, and now Vice-President of the West Klosterman Preserve Group (WKPG).  WKPG is working to identify remaining natural habitat in the Tampa Bay region and fundraising to place these “Slices of Paradise” into permanent preservation.  Bruce will be presenting information about their current project in the Tarpon Springs and Palm Harbor area: The West Klosterman Preserve.

The WKPG has undertaken the mission to SAVE FROM DEVELOPMENT and to preserve a beautiful, natural, untouched 14 acres of land in Tarpon Springs that is teeming with native animals and plant life, including some endangered species.  These 14 acres are adjacent to the 76-acre Mariner’s Point Management Area (MPMA), an environmental preservation area owned by Pinellas County.

Come and learn more!  The presentation and Q & A will be followed with an opportunity to ask Bruce native plant/landscape questions in his lifelong capacity as a native plant conservationist, propagationist, retailer, and landscape designer.
