Native Plant or Get the Weed Whacker?

Every spring I see tiny daisies and little iris-looking plants popping up all over my lawn. What are they? Are they native plants or should I get out the weed whacker?

No need to get out the weed whacker! Watch the video below, as Bruce Turley, our board member and native plant expert, identifies a few common native ground cover plants and wildflowers. They are helpful pollinators and thrive in Florida’s natural climate.

Wilcox Nursery and Landscape carries native groundcover, plants, ornamentals, shrubs, and trees to make your yard Florida Beautiful. Stop by their FREE Spring Festival on Saturday, March 25 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. to ask questions, purchase plants, participate in games and raffles, hear experts talk about native plant and wildlife, and make donations to save the West Klosterman Preserve.
